The One with Homework

You haven't heard from me for a bit.  It's because Mr Him has had me walking,  again. We have walked Santa Cruz ( that is so interesting with so many pics I need to blog on it at home as Internet and mobile phone combo awful ).  We have walked Los Gigantes  and today we walked to fresh sardines,  at my insistance.  In Maderia sardines are on every menu (almost ).  Here I've seen them once, today, and I ate them.

These were caught this morning

Mr Him had a good English breakfast for his lunch;  it's what adventurous Brits do on holiday.

Now, homework for you.  In the Canaries I have been eating Canarian potatoes.  These are with skins and salted. Your homework is to Google  (you've proven yourselves adept  at that with the Charmander)  how to cook these potatoes and post a link in your comment.  I sooo want to make these at home,  and you will too.

On my boring blog I've continued my series on vacation packing and in flight duty free (for the ladies .)

  1. The potatoes sound interesting but the MOJO sauce would not be for Suzie, too bad :<(.

  2. Oh how I loved the canarie style papas when I was in Lanzarote a few years ago. So I bought a cook book. No big break with tradition, as a foreign holiday cookbook is normally my souvenir to myself. So that I can recreate the dishes I so loved on holiday. One day. When I'm retired. OK I AM retired but being busy every day doesn't feel like retirement, so I obviously haven't hit real retirement yet. Which means I haven't cooked the salty papas yet, so I can't brag about my success. But I can dust down my little cookbook tomorrow.
No googling today though, my late-night Charmander googling drained me of what techy reserves I had in my pensioner tank - Charmander just may have outed me as a one-Google-wonder.

  3. P.s. Retirement issues aside, I think maybe the recipe boiled them in seawater and I saw the journey back from the beach with a bucket of seawater slopping about in my wheelbarrow just one step too far in my desire to recreate warm fuzzy culinary holiday memories.

  5. I have been to Lanzarote for seven years and loved the potatoes! With that pesto kind of stuff! The Green one. Those potatoes grow on lava alle , so it will always taste different then back home! Those sardines look delicious!

  7. While those potatoes sound good (especially with the Mojo) all that salt make the BP climb... but those sardines sure look good. Don't you love trying the traditional foods of the places you visit?
