Fresh Mint Tea and the Garden Centre

Dear reader, I haven’t much to tell you other than my exciting purchase of herbs.  I was so pleased with this acquisition that I instagrammed and tweeted for a good hour, and don't think you have escaped, either.  I have a plethora of pictures for you!

In these tubsI have rosemary, lavender, lemon balm, Moroccan mint, spearmint, peppermint and thyme.

I was thinking, of course, of Pimms when I bought the mint but Mr Him had other ideas.  Once he realised Morrocan mint was in the collection he brewed us up a fresh sweet mint tea which I drank in the sun as it dripped on our back doorstep.

During our trip to the garden centre we also bought a variety of yogurt mixes, to the delight of the yogurt churner extraordinaire, and some locally made meat pies and marmalade.

Well what else would you get from the garden centre, plants and compost?  Don’t be ridiculous!

Well, OK, so we bought a token yellow daisy thingy.

  1. I find modern garden centres are a lovely way to spend a few hours - they sell all sorts of interesting things (apart from plants).

  2. Moroccan mint? Don't know that one. What is the difference?
Yay for garden centres. And bookshops. Otherwise my sales resistance is high.

    1. I hadn't heard of it until we discovered it was in the tub labelled. we had had mint tea in a Moroccan restaurant so Mr Him put two and two together and we had a lovely brew.

  3. I have a garden centre visit scheduled for the end of the week. I always spend way too much. Self control seems to vanish when I am there. Your herbs look very healthy and I like the sound of the mint tea.

    1. The tea is easy to make. Just use fresh mint leaves and a herbal tea stewer thingy. Add sugar. Moroccan tea is very sweet.

  5. One of my favorite garden centers sells gazing balls, wind chimes and other delightful things that are such fun to come across when you're strolling through your garden or lawn. Your herbs are wonderful... I can almost smell the mint....

    1. Garden centres as shops of all sorts seems to be a global trend. Dangerous for our purses.

  7. Mmn, love fresh herbs. I keep mine outside the back door in an old cradle - used by my husband's first wife. Maybe she has jinxed it because contents wither or bolt alarmingly. Or maybe it is because I don't water them....

    1. He's gone off the boil regarding yogurt. His summer job is 8 hours a day and he's quite exhausted poor lad.

  9. Everything looks like they are growing beautifully. I have oregano, sage and basil but I'm afraid my brother is the only one who uses them. I really need to learn. Sigh...

    1. I love having fresh herbs but need to make sure I don't neglect them. I certainly can't keep herbs on my window sill. For some reason I am managing to water these outside ones yet can't indoor ones. Weird.

    1. Mint grows rapant here if its not contained. I won't be planting this into the garden. It would become a weed.
